PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Gilbert Eases Back Slowly
No. 1 pick Sean Gilbert was held out of practice again Sunday because of an ankle injury that forced him to miss last week’s exhibition opener at Seattle, and he says he will be cautious about determining whether to play Saturday against the Raiders. “It’s a long road, and I don’t see me trying to prove a point to anyone,” Gilbert said. “I can’t prove anything to anyone without proving it to myself first. If I’m not comfortable with it, I’m not going to touch it.”
Running back Marcus Dupree returned to practice Sunday from a toe injury, but Knox said he still wasn’t sure if Dupree was ready for all-out action. . . . Running back Cleveland Gary and cornerback Todd Lyght continue to be sidelined by hamstring injuries, and defensive end Bill Hawkins missed practice Sunday because of a calf injury suffered in the Seattle game.
