Rich Hill, baseball coach at Cal Lutheran, has been named manager of the year in the Cape Cod League after leading the Chatham A’s to the league championship. The Cape Cod is one of the top summer collegiate baseball leagues in the country.

Hill, who guided Cal Lutheran to a 43-6 record and within two outs of an NCAA Division III title last season, led the A’s to a 3-2 win in 12 innings over the Cotuit Kettelers in the championship game.

John Keever, the Moorpark College wrestling coach since 1969, was named the school’s interim coordinator of athletics Wednesday.

Because of budget cuts, the responsibilities of outgoing Athletic Director Paul Dunham will be split among Keever, Art Bettini--the Social Science division director--and Floyd Thionnet--vice president of student and educational services--during the 1992-93 school year. Dunham retired in June.

Keever, 47, will continue to coach the wrestling team during the fall and will serve as an assistant track coach in the spring, working with the weight-event athletes.

Moorpark is the two-time defending state champion in wrestling.

Glendale Independence defeated Duncan, British Columbia, 11-0, Wednesday in a consolation-bracket game of the Senior League Softball World Series (ages 13-15) in Kalamazoo, Mich.
