Perez Leads Junior Golf Championships

Pat Perez shot a third-round 67 at Balboa Golf Course Thursday to grab a three-shot lead over Lenny Hall in the boys’ 15-17 division of the San Diego County Junior Golf Championships. In the girls’ 15-17 division, Debbie Kim fired a 76 and extended her lead over Jill Wery from one stroke to three.
Perez and Kim will try to hold those leads in today’s final round at Balboa. Perez trailed Hall by one stroke entering play Thursday but picked up four strokes. His three-day total is 213. Johnny Eusebio is third at 224. Kim leads Wery, 235-238, but she leads third-place Megan Mahoney by 19 strokes. Mike Mehran (234) leads Mike Desmaris by one stroke in the boys’ 13-14 division, while Michelle Sperry (253) has a four-shot edge over Shannon Ingalls in the girls’ 13-14 division..
FISHING
The International Game Fish Assn. certified Thursday that James Seibert, 43, of San Diego, set a world record for catching the heaviest California barracuda. The fish, caught off Point Loma on April 4, weighed six pounds, three ounces. Seibert said he hooked it with a fly rod.
