Coach: Kristi Kaufmann (first year).
1991: CIF State Division II champion, Southern Section Division II champion, Orange County championships runner-up, Sunset League champion.
Key returners: Janndee Evans, Jr., 34th at the State meet; Janna Evans, Sr., 23rd at State, set PRs of 5:05.31 for 1,600 meters and 11:18.54 for 3,200 last spring; Jennifer Formosa, So., 12th at State; Jeannie Formosa, So., 18th at State; Carrie Quinn, Jr., has a cross-country PR of 18:36.
Key newcomer: Elyse Homberger, So.
Outlook: Edison suffered the biggest loss of any team in at State when Shelley Taylor, the State Division II individual champion and one of the top milers in the country, packed her bags for the University of Arkansas. But much of the ’91 team remains intact for Kaufmann, a former heptathlete at UC Irvine. “This is an amazing group,” she said. There aren’t many gaps among the top five of Evans, Evans, Formosa, Formosa and Quinn.
