COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Men, Irvine Women Win Team Races

Mike Tansley of Cal State Fullerton and Traci Goodrich of UC Irvine led their teams to victory at the Cal State Fullerton cross-country invitational Saturday at Carbon Canyon Regional Park.

Tansley won the men’s race in 24 minutes 36 seconds to lead the Titans to the championship. Fullerton finished with 19 points and Cal State Northridge finished second with 77. Fullerton’s Jose Serrano, Brian Johnson and Rene Gutierrez also finished in the top 10.

Goodrich won the women’s race, covering the 5,000-meter course in 17:43 to lead the Anteaters to the team title with 27 points.

Fullerton finished second in the women’s race with 46 points, led by Heather Killeen, who finished second in 17:49.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Southern California College 6, Christian Heritage 0--Alberto and Carlos Miramontes each scored one goal for host SCC (2-1). Christian Heritage is 0-3.

UC Irvine 2, UC Davis 1 (OT)--Scott Smith scored with two minutes remaining in the first overtime to give host Irvine (2-0) the victory.

In the Northern Arizona women’s volleyball tournament:

UC Irvine 3, West Virginia 0--All-tournament selection Anastasia Arnold had 11 kills to lead the Anteaters (4-2) to a 15-9, 15-5, 15-7 victory in the third-place match.

At the UC Davis women’s volleyball tournament:

Chapman wins twice--The Panthers (6-2) defeated Michigan Tech, 15-9, 16-14, 15-7, and East Texas 15-8, 15-12, 15-13.
