A 59-year-old woman who died when her car sailed off a 30-foot embankment while she was fleeing the police on the Antelope Valley Freeway was identified Tuesday as Janice Karoll of Lancaster, the California Highway Patrol said.
Karoll led authorities on a 12-minute chase Monday afternoon that reached speeds of 100 m.p.h. after a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy tried to stop her for making an illegal turn.
An autopsy was scheduled to be performed in the next several days, a coroner’s office spokeswoman said.
