Seal Scores Three Touchdowns in Irvine’s Victory

Irvine fullback Scott Seal ran for 170 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Vaqueros rolled to a 35-0 rout of Fountain Valley at Huntington Beach High.

Seal, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound senior, carried 13 times for 115 yards in the first half when Irvine (2-1) scored on its first three possessions.

After quarterback Aron Garcia scored on a five-yard bootleg to give Irvine a 7-0 lead, the Vaqueros blocked a punt and took over at the Barons’ 20-yard line. Four plays later, Seal’s five-yard run gave Irvine a 14-0 lead with 45 seconds left in the first quarter.

Three minutes into the second quarter, Seal ran 37 yards for his second touchdown. Seal added a 31-yard run in the third quarter. He left the game a short time later, after his one-yard run gave Irvine a 28-0 lead with 5:20 left in the third quarter.

Tony Mathis scored Irvine’s final touchdown on a nine-yard run after the Vaqueros had recovered a Fountain Valley fumble.

Chuck Harcar ran 16 times for 54 yards to lead Fountain Valley (1-2).
