Pacifica Spots Glenn the Lead Before Romping

Pacifica handed Norwalk Glenn its first loss of the season, 42-7, Friday night at La Mirada High School.

Glenn (2-1) scored on its first possession. Running back Munib Haddad had 27 yards in four carries to set up a five-yard touchdown run by Roy Thomas. Haddad, who led the Eagles with 52 yards in nine carries, left the game at halftime with a back injury.

After Glenn scored, Pacifica quarterback Brian Wolfson hit Curt Huffmire with a four-yard pass, and Josh Lewis outran the pack for a 63-yard touchdown run. Lewis scored again in the second quarter with a 17-yard run. Although he carried the ball only twice in the second half, Lewis led the Mariners with 98 yards in seven carries.

Just before halftime, Wolfson passed to Aaron Benjamin for a 64-yard touchdown. Wolfson completed nine of 12 pass attempts for 144 yards.

In the third quarter, Matagi Ala had a 39-yard touchdown run, and two minutes into the fourth quarter, Damien Cook scored from three yards out. Cook had 10 carries for 88 yards.

With 1:07 left in the game, Ala escaped three defenders for the final score for Pacifica (2-1), a 34-yard run.
