ROUNDUP : CLU Women Extend SCIAC Soccer Streak

The Cal Lutheran women’s soccer team extended its Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference unbeaten streak to 16 games Wednesday with an 11-0 victory against host Occidental.

Lea Stankavich scored three goals to pace the Regals (6-3, 4-0 in the SCIAC), and teammate Carla Crawford added two goals.

Cal Lutheran, which plays at USC on Friday, outshot Occidental, 21-3.

MEN’S SOCCER

UC San Diego 2, Master’s 1--Steve Janho scored a goal for Master’s, but it was not enough to prevent the Mustangs from losing the nonconference match at home.

The loss was the second in a row for Master’s (3-9), the defending NAIA District 3 champion.

Matt Chilton scored both goals for UC San Diego (5-3-1).

MEN’S WATER POLO

Valley 10, Pasadena City 3--Wonmeen Jun scored four goals and goalkeeper Ken Budmafka had eight saves for host Valley in the nonconference match.

The win was the fifth in the last six matches for Valley (10-3).

HIGH SCHOOL CROSS-COUNTRY

Frontier League meet No. 1--The Nordhoff High boys’ and girls’ teams, the defending State Division IV champions, rolled to impressive victories in the first of three league meets this season.

Sophomore Javier Ramirez won the boys’ race with a time of 16 minutes 55 seconds over the three-mile course at Happy Camp Park in Moorpark to help the Rangers total 21 points. Santa Paula was second with 47, followed by Moorpark with 60.

Nordhoff scored 19 points in the girls’ race, paced by winner Karen Bockel. The senior foreign-exchange student from Germany timed 21:26 over the three-mile course.

Moorpark placed second with 76 points, followed by Thacher with 83.

The first two league meets each count 25% in determining the league champion with the league finals accounting for 50%.
