PREP NOTES : Mater Dei’s Wright Plans to Sign Today With Titans
DeVaughn Wright, a 6-foot-6 forward from Mater Dei who has not played in a varsity game but caught the eyes of several college recruiters last summer, made an oral commitment to attend Cal State Fullerton and said he will sign a letter of intent today.
“He’s a great athlete who runs the floor well and is a good shot- blocker,” Mater Dei Coach Gary McKnight said. “He’s a late-bloomer who may have more potential as a player in college than high school. He just needs more experience.”
Wright, who probably will be the sixth or seventh man on another excellent Mater Dei team this season, chose Fullerton over Utah State.
“I liked the coaching staff a lot and wanted to stay close to home a little bit longer,” Wright said.
