Whittier Christian’s Meschuk Runs Over Orange Lutheran

WHITTIER — Aaron Meschuk rushed for 281 yards in 36 carries and scored three touchdowns in the second half to lead Whittier Christian to a 58-21 victory over Orange Lutheran in an Olympic League football game Friday at Whittier College.
The victory gave Whittier Christian (7-3, 4-1) a share of the league title with Brethren Christian. Whittier Christian advances to the Southern Section Division X playoffs as the league’s No. 2 team.
Whittier Christian led, 29-7, at the half and Meschuk scored his first touchdown on a five-yard run with 8 minutes 32 seconds left in the third quarter. He added a one-yard scoring run with 1:57 left in the quarter to give Whittier Christian a 44-7 lead. He had 166 yards in 15 carries during the third quarter.
Jon Habben caught a pair of touchdown passes late in the second quarter for Whittier Christian. He scored on a 22-yard pass from quarterback Chad Callahan with 1:02 left in the half. He added a 27-yard touchdown pass with five seconds left in the half.
Orange Lutheran is 2-3, 6-4.
