South Gate 20, Huntington Park 18--Felipe Escartin’s 25-yard field goal with five seconds left lifted South Gate to a Southeastern Conference win.
Escartin also opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 25-yard field goal.
South Gate running back Alan Cervantes rushed for 88 yards in 17 carries, setting up all of the Rams’ scores. Spartan quarterback Frank Rojas completed seven of 18 passes for 66 yards and caught a 84-yard scoring pass play from former quarterback Danny Morales.
All of Rojas’ passes were to wide receiver Armando Bravo, who also scored on a 60-yard fumble recovery.
