CSUN Ranked 25th in Volleyball Poll

The Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team has made its first appearance in the NCAA Division I coaches poll after winning 12 consecutive matches and 17 of 18 to conclude the regular season.
The Matadors (27-7) are ranked 25th after defeating Arizona in their regular-season finale Saturday. Northridge will learn Sunday if it is one of 32 teams selected to play in the national tournament.
A trio of area running backs shared recognition as Western State Conference offensive player of the week.
Gil Carrillo of Moorpark led the group, gaining 244 yards and scoring four touchdowns in the Raiders’ 49-32 win over Glendale on Saturday. Carrillo, a freshman, shared honors with Pathon Rucker of Glendale (227 yards, four touchdowns in 29 carries) and Howard Blackwell of Valley (120, four, 28).
Blackwell led the WSC in rushing with 1,255 yards and 22 touchdowns in 187 carries. Carrillo was second with 1,103 yards and 14 touchdowns in 135 carries and Rucker was fourth with 1,040 yards and 17 touchdowns in 150 carries.
