In the first round of the Fullerton tournament:
Katella 58, Santiago 34--Chris Carrillo scored 21 points and teammate Rachel Davis had 17 points and 13 rebounds in the Katella’s season opener.
In the second round of the Irvine Tournament:
Brea-Olinda 59, Dana Hills 39--Nicole Erickson had 25 points for Brea Olinda (2-0).
Woodbridge 50, Ocean View 46--Florencia Luppani scored 18 points for Woodbridge (2-0).
In a nonleague game:
Oregon City 71, Marina 44--Aimee Periolat and Jessica Trippet each scored 10 points for Marina, which lost to the 19th-ranked team in the country. Tammy Arnold, a 6-foot-3 sophomore, had 23 points and 12 rebounds for Oregon City.
Villa Park 47, La Mirada Glenn 38--Maureen Skehan had 18 points, 16 rebounds and six steals for Villa Park (2-0).
In the Daily Pilot Tip Off tournament:
Mater Dei 89, Newport Harbor 33--Guard Miles Simon and Terrence Wilborn led the Monarchs (2-0) with 16 points each.
Santa Ana Valley 71, Westminster 47--Senior forward Jovan Robinson led Santa Ana Valley (2-0) with 34 points against Westminster (1-1).
In the first round of the Orange Lutheran boys’ basketball tournament:
Orange 65, Buena Park 54--Junior Gil Gonzales made six three-point shots in the first quarter, and finished with 25 points, including eight three-pointers.
Orange Lutheran 67, Anaheim 58--Jeff Courvoisier scored all of his 27 points in the second half for Orange Lutheran (1-0).
In the San Luis Obispo tournament:
Ocean View 61, Arroyo Grande 35--Jim Harris had 24 points, 10 assists, and seven steals for Ocean View (1-0) in a first-round game.
In the Western-Savanna tournament:
Katella 56, Tustin 53--Brian Carlson scored 28 points for Katella (2-0), which will play Los Alamitos in one semifinal today.
Los Alamitos 83, Sunny Hills 45--Steve Carbone scored 20 points for Los Alamitos (2-0).
In nonleague games:
Liberty Christian 79, Oakwood 64--Senior guard Toby Curto had 31 points and teammate Dave Vaccaro had 22 points 20 rebounds for visiting Liberty Christian (1-1).
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Costa Mesa 1, San Clemente 1--Ryan Arrechaderra had 23 saves for host Costa Mesa (0-1-1), which took a 1-0 lead at the half on Carlos Avalos’ goal.
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Sunny Hills 4, Pacifica 1--Rhonda Partida scored three goals, giving her seven this season, for host Sunny Hills (3-0).
Westminster 9, Magnolia 0--Carrie Shinen and Mindy James scored three goals each for host Westminster (2-0).
