OUTLOOK
The Trojans will be small but quick. In fact, Dineen plans on starting four guards. “You’re going to see that look a lot from us,” he said. “Obviously, it’s our strength. It could cause some matchup problems for other teams.” Zeigler is the best of the backcourt group. He averaged five points last season, but was scoring better than 20 per game during the summer. Elliott, the team’s only other experienced player, will miss at least the first six games because of a knee injury during the summer. Dineen thought he had lost his point guard for the season, but Elliott rehabilitated the knee instead of undergoing surgery. “That was good news,” Dineen said. “We’re counting on Josh to provide leadership.” Elliott is also one of only two seniors on the roster. Dineen said he plans to use eight juniors. Ali Amiri is the best of the new players. “He’s probably the best point guard I’ve had in the last five years,” Dineen said. “I think people are really going to notice him.” The Trojans’ weakness is up front, where Sibersky and White will be asked to defend the post and rebound. “I like years like this,” Dineen said. “No one knows much about us. I think we’re capable of beating a lot of teams or losing to those same teams. But I don’t think anyone will blow us out.”
