Jimmy Harris, who signed early with Loyola Marymount, is averaging 18 points and broke a school record with 18 assists in the Seahawks’ second game. He turned an ankle in the championship game of the San Luis Obispo tournament but X-rays taken this week were negative. “We were ahead, 10-2, when Jimmy (dived) for a loose ball and a guy fell on top of him,” Jim Harris said. “We tried to come back in the fourth quarter and scored our last nine points. It was very disruptive for the team and myself. He’s our leader, and when he was out, our play dropped off noticeably.” Harris has good depth with eight players seeing plenty of action but McDonald was brought up from JV last week for some added punch at the wing. “Dan was impressive over the summer, but I didn’t think he’d get enough playing time to keep him on the varsity. He was dominating at times this summer, so I’ve decided to give him a shot.” Harris has two concerns heading into the Tournament of Champions: 1) The team’s inconsistency in passing the ball from the perimeter; 2) A lack of scoring. “We should be scoring more points,” he said.
