Vrolyk expects Fullerton, which finished last season tied for second with Troy and advanced to the second round of playoffs, to be among the best teams in the league this season. “I think with our team height, we will be in the top three,” she said. Vrolyk has Heorner, her 6-2 sophomore center, to lead the team. Hoerner was the first player off the bench last year, averaging three points and nine rebounds as a freshman. Wallace, a 5-9 senior who hasn’t played since her sophomore year when she suffered a knee injury in soccer, and Darke are expected to rotate at point guard. The Indians graduated all five starters and the five, including top scorer Sommer McLane, are playing college ball. This season, Jones and Hassett, who is 6-0, are also expected to start. Jones, who averaged three points per game last season, saw limited playing time. Vrolyk said she is looking for Jones to step up and play a big role on the team. Hassett, who was a reserve, is making progress. “She has the potential to be a very good player,” Vrolyk said.
