Bettye Daly, wife of 1991 PGA champion John Daly, said she did not press charges against her husband as a result of an altercation in which she reportedly was thrown against a wall of their home in Castle Rock, Colo.
“We are committed as a couple to working through this problem in order to put it behind us,” John Daly said in a news release. “I am deeply sorry for any embarrassment I may have caused my wife, family, friends or fans.”
In a brief statement issued through Steven M. Frei, Daly’s Washington, D.C.-based attorney, Bettye Daly said: “I was not struck or physically injured in the incident. I neither reported the incident nor requested the (Douglas County) sheriff’s department to intervene.”
Daly, 26, was arrested by sheriff’s officers and charged with third-degree assault last Wednesday for allegedly throwing his wife against a wall during an argument at a Christmas party he hosted the previous Sunday.
