Woman Fatally Hurt in Bicycle Accident
A 64-year-old woman died of injuries she suffered Sunday when for unknown reasons her bicycle began to wobble and she veered into traffic, where she was struck by an auto on Laguna Canyon Road just north of Laguna Beach.
Abby V. Krouk of Laguna Beach was airlifted to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where she died about two hours after the 12:45 p.m. accident, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Arturo Hernandez, 34, of Pacoima, driver of the automobile that struck Krouk, was not cited.
The accident occurred while car and bicycle were both northbound in an unincorporated area about 300 feet north of the Laguna Beach city limits, the CHP spokesman said.
“Mr. Hernandez said there was nothing he could do to avoid hitting her,” the spokesman said.
