COUNTYWIDE : Metrolink Riders to Get Two Months for Price of One

Passengers riding Metrolink trains can use a January monthly pass to ride for free during the month of February as part of a special effort to encourage commuters to buy monthly passes, Metrolink officials said Thursday.

The commuter trains run from Santa Clarita and Moorpark through the San Fernando Valley to downtown Los Angeles.

Monthly passes are sold during the last five days and the first 10 days of each month at all Metrolink stations from ticket vending machines.

But passengers can also buy the passes throughout the month at the Union Station ticket window in downtown Los Angeles, said Metrolink spokesman Peter Hidalgo.

A January monthly pass is valid for unlimited trips within the two calendar months and does not have to be exchanged or validated.

Metrolink officials said they are offering the two-for-one deal to boost sales of monthly passes, which they say allows passengers to ride the commuter trains for more than a third less than the cost of buying one-way tickets each day.
