COLLEGE ROUNDUP : SCC’s Bickmore, Reeves Dominate Pacific Christian

Court Bickmore scored 24 points and Jeff Reeves had 23 as the Southern California College men’s basketball team rolled over Pacific Christian, 126-72, in a nonconference game Saturday night at SCC.

SCC pulled away in the first half, outscoring Pacific Christian by 35 points. SCC made 68% of its shots from the field in the first half.

Scott Campbell added 20 points for SCC (9-6).

Charles Ross led Pacific Christian with 27 points.

SCC outrebounded Pacific Christian 43-13.

In Big West Conference women’s basketball:

Nevada Las Vegas 82, Cal State Fullerton 63--Allison Jackson had 25 points, seven rebounds, and five steals for the Titans (2-7, 0-3). Marissa Frial added 12 points, including four three-pointers, for Fullerton, which shot 32% from the field. Teresa Jackson had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Rebels (8-1, 2-0).

New Mexico State 80, UC Irvine 61--Jinelle Williams scored 15 points and Karie Yoshioka added 13 for Irvine (1-9, 0-3), which was playing without starters Yvonne Catala (injured back) and Cher Scanlon (injured ankle). Paulina Blunt had 17 points and 17 rebounds for New Mexico State (5-6, 1-3).

In the Golden State Athletic Conference:

Christ College Irvine 78, Southern California College 59--Stacey Giem scored 23 points and Gitte Mejer added 21 as CCI (12-4) rolled over SCC, which got a game-high 25 points from Cyndi Lyons.

At the UC Irvine swimming invitational:

Irvine Men Lead--Pat Keenan won the 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly to put the Anteaters in the lead with 463 points, ahead of second-place Fresno State, which has 436.

In the women’s competition, Fresno State leads with 469 points, and Colorado State is in second with 449. Irvine is in seventh place. The invitational concludes today at Heritage Park.

In nonconference men’s volleyball:

LaVerne 3, UC Irvine 2--Jeff Uhrig and Chad Milling each had 21 kills for Irvine (0-1), which lost, 5-15, 15-13, 14-16, 15-8, 15-12.

In Pacific 10 Conference wrestling:

Oregon State 23, Cal State Fullerton 19--Heavyweight John Sanchez pinned D.J. Wells in 1 minute 3 seconds for the Titans at Fullerton College.

Also Saturday, the Titans defeated San Francisco State, 20-17, in a nonconference match. Sanchez pinned Tony Jones of S.F. State. Mike Grubbs (118) and Laszlo Molnar (177) also swept their two matches for the Titans.
