DANA POINT : Panel OKs Proposal for 3-Story Hotel
The Planning Commission last week unanimously approved a plan to demolish an abandoned building on Coast Highway and replace it with a three-story hotel.
The project, proposed by Francisco Montesinos of Architectural Masters Inc. of San Clemente, would require the developer to demolish the dog kennels at the site, which is across the street from Capistrano Beach.
A 15-suite, 9,900-square-foot hotel with parking would be built. A retaining wall between the structure and the hillside would also be built to protect it from mudslides.
“It just sailed right through,” Planning Commissioner Carlos N. Olvera said of the project, which was approved with a 5-0 vote.
