Man Fatally Shot in Robbery Try

A man was shot during an attempted robbery outside a Panorama City bar over the weekend and died later at a local hospital, police said.

The victim, who was not identified, was one of several people confronted by a dozen men outside the Woodman Bar at 9060 Woodman Ave. at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Ken Roth said.

One of the men fired several shots, one of which struck the victim in the upper body, Roth said. The attackers drove off in three cars. Friends of the victim took him to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley in Sun Valley, where the man was pronounced dead.

Roth said robbery was a likely motive. The investigation was continuing.
