Loyola Women Improve to 2-0 in WCC With 71-56 Victory Over Gonzaga

Freshman guard Marlee Webb’s three-point basket started a 15-0 run to lift the Loyola Marymount women’s basketball team to a 71-56 West Coast Conference victory over Gonzaga on Saturday night at Gersten Pavilion.
The Lions led, 45-43, with nine minutes 15 seconds left when Webb made her basket. She finished with 15 points.
Loyola (11-3, 2-0 in the WCC) was led in scoring by junior forward Sheri Brown, who had 21 points. Brown added nine rebounds. Freshman center Amy Lundquist had 11 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.
Ivy Safranski scored a career-best 31 points for Gonzaga (5-9, 0-2).
Loyola, which defeated Portland, 74-61, Friday night, will play at St. Mary’s on Friday and University of San Francisco on Saturday.
Cal State Dominguez Hills 68, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 65--Sophomore guard Chris Thompson scored a season-high 18 point to lift the Toro men to victory.
