A Molotov cocktail thrown into an Inglewood house Wednesday night led police to a small cache of narcotics and firearms and prompted the arrest of one of the house’s residents.

Kever Crump, 25, was booked on suspicion of narcotics and firearms violations after firefighters battling the blaze inside his house in the 10200 block of 1st Avenue saw handguns and cocaine in his room, Inglewood Police Sgt. Alex Perez said.

Investigators initially stopped Crump on a traffic violation as he drove past the scene of the fire, Perez said.

No one was injured in the blaze, which broke out about 7:35 p.m., Perez said. Witnesses told police that several men fired shots into the house before one threw at least one, and possibly two, flaming objects inside, Perez said.

A neighbor rescued Clem Eugene Williams, 76, from inside the burning house, which he shares with Crump, Perez said.

Flames had engulfed the house by the time firefighters arrived, Perez said. Fire officials estimated damage at $60,000 to the structure and $30,000 to the contents.

After firefighters spotted evidence of drugs, detectives obtained a search warrant and went through the house more thoroughly.

“They found handguns, only a couple . . . and I’m not sure how much narcotics, but certainly not the mother lode,” Perez said.

Detectives were investigating allegations that the house had been used for drug sales in the past, he said. The men suspected of firing into the house remain at large.
