Long Beach Jordan 67, Glendale 60--David Sofro led Glendale with 15 points, but the difference in the Division I-AA game was free throws. Glendale made only two of four free throws and Jordan made 11 of 18.

In Southern Section first-round boys’ games:

Ventura 82, Westlake 72--Anthony McCurtis had 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Darien Roberts (14 points) and Dan McCashin (13 points, five steals) also scored in double figures for host Ventura in a Division II-A game. Mike Ormsby (26 points) and Brad Schwan (19) led Westlake.

Hueneme 61, Antelope Valley 58--Wendell Nunnery scored 23 points and David Andrade added 18 points and 12 rebounds as host Hueneme (16-8) overcame an 11-point third-quarter deficit to win a Division I-A game.

Hueneme point guard Wayne Revis finished with 14 points and 10 assists. John Sanders led Antelope Valley (13-11) with 13 points.

Santa Barbara 59, Agoura 46--Jeff Niemann had 16 points and Brian Laibow added 13 for Agoura (15-10) in a Division II-AA game.

Montclair Prep 64, Mission Prep 58--Akil Anderson (17 points), Ethan Parker (15) and Jerome Joseph (15) led Montclair Prep (16-8) in a Division V-AA game.

Moorpark 71, Workman 64--Keith Linton scored 23 points to lead Moorpark in a Division III-A game at Workman. Moorpark trailed by 19 in the third quarter and outscored Workman, 26-9, in the fourth quarter.

L.A. Baptist 78, Cantwell 74 (2 OT)--The Knights (15-7) never led until the second overtime of the Division IV-A game when forward Zaki Rabadi hit a three-pointer to make the score 74-71. Rabadi, who tied his season high with 29 points, forced the first overtime with a jump shot. Landon LaPack’s 16-footer at the buzzer forced the second overtime.

Oak Park 56, Kern Valley 37--Nick Rattray (14), Brandon Creason (13) and Shawn Williams (12) scored in double figures to lead Oak Park (14-9) in a Division IV-A game.

Providence 84, Woodcrest Christian 61--The Pioneers (19-4) blew open the Division V-AA game by halftime. Barry Dabbaghian scored 19 of his 30 points to help Providence lead, 42-20, at halftime. Robert Mena added 24.

Holy Martyrs 66, Bishop Diego 59--Sako Balian had 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Hratch Bardakjian contributed 16 points and six assists for Holy Martyrs (19-4) in a Division V-AA game.

CITY SECTION BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Monroe 67, Poly 42--Four Monroe players--Kenyatta Niles (16 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, three steals), Dante Cain (12), Jeff Nadeau (12 points) and Marco Rich (11 points, nine assists, five steals)--scored in double figures as the Vikings finished 11-1 in the Valley Pac-8 Conference. Jose Sanchez (14 points) led Poly.

Canoga Park 66, Sylmar 65--Demond Callahan scored 18 of his 20 points in the first half of a Mid-Valley League game as host Canoga Park (10-10, 5-7) clinched its first playoff berth since 1983. Glenn Davis had 18 points and Arthur Bradford added 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Hunters.

Grant 70, Sherman Oaks CES 61--Marc Scorza and Sean Hackett each scored 15 points as Grant (9-13) clinched a playoff berth with an East Valley League win.

John Cannon totaled 19 points and 12 rebounds for Sherman Oaks CES (2-15, 1-9).

Taft 83, Kennedy 72--The surging Toreadors (11-9, 5-5) rolled behind Johnny Williams (19 points) and Ricky Steele (20). Joe Wyatt scored 39 for Kennedy.

El Camino Real 69, San Fernando 67--Kenyth Henry’s layup with two seconds left completed a North Valley League upset and sent the Conquistadores (13-9, 3-3) to the 3-A Division playoffs. Henry (15 points) took a pass on the wing from Sam Sarpong (20 points, eight assists).

Reseda 66, Granada Hills 60 (OT)--The host Highlanders failed to give Coach Bob Johnson a victory send-off in his final game after 25 years at Granada Hills. Trenton Cross scored 20 points, including six of Reseda’s nine points in overtime, to lead the Regents (7-11, 5-5) in the North Valley League game. Steve Fisher (19 points, 15 rebounds) and Tyrone Jackman (18 points) led Granada Hills (3-18, 1-9).

North Hollywood 83, Van Nuys 35--Romain Coleman and Fantasia Johnson each scored 15 points as host North Hollywood (24-1, 11-0) completed its second consecutive unbeaten Valley Pac-8 Conference season.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

North Hollywood 43, Van Nuys 39--Anna Celaya scored all 12 of her points in the first half as visiting North Hollywood (18-6, 10-1) won the Mid-Valley League title for the fifth consecutive year. Rachel Fogelhut had 10 points and Darvena Merritt added eight points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots. Erika Upton of Van Nuys (15-7, 9-2) had 13 points.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Buena 2, Rowland 1 (3OT)--After two 10-minute overtime periods, Peter Maione took a header pass from Jeff Hoffman during sudden-death overtime and scored to give Buena the Southern Section Division II first-round playoff victory. Buena (17-1-3) forced overtime in dramatic fashion when sophomore Jeff Saucedo intercepted a Rowland clearing pass and scored from 12 yards in the final minute of regulation.

In other Southern Section first-round playoff matches:

Baldwin Park 3, Oxnard 1--Antonio Quezada of Oxnard (14-11-1) scored, but it was not enough in a Division II-A match.

Calabasas 1, Santa Maria St. Joseph’s 0--Adam Cooper scored for Calabasas (13-4-2) in a Division V match.

Moorpark 6, Fillmore 0--Jamie Surace, Pat Russo and Igancio Alfaro each had two goals for Moorpark (18-2-2) in a Division V match.

Burroughs 2, Santa Maria 1--Ian Leiviska took a throw-in from Eddie Melgar and scored on a header with 15 minutes to play to give host Burroughs (19-2-2) the Division III match.

Notre Dame 3, Palmdale 2--Francisco Dongo scored his 22nd goal and Jon Arroyo and Camilo Padilla added their 19th and 16th for Notre Dame (16-8-2) in a Division III match.

Hawthorne 2, Simi Valley 1 (2 OT)--Simi Valley (9-9-2) was eliminated from the Division I playoffs despite a goal by Kenny Hickman.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

La Reina 3, Crossroads 0--Jamie Armstrong scored once and Alicia Moon scored twice for La Reina (15-3-1) in a Division IV match.
