COLLEGE BASKETBALL PACIFIC 10 ROUNDUP : Stoudamire’s Shot Lifts Oregon, 62-60

Antoine Stoudamire scored 23 points, including the winning basket with four seconds to play, as Oregon defeated Washington State, 62-60, in a Pacific 10 Conference game at Eugene, Ore., on Saturday night.

Oregon, which ended a 20-game conference losing streak by defeating Washington, 85-70, Thursday night, has won two conference games in a row for the first time in two years.

Washington State, 13-9 overall and 7-6 in the Pac-10, lost its second in a row and fell from a second-place tie in the conference.

Washington State’s Eddie Hill scored a career-high 29 points and tied a school record with seven three-point baskets, but he did not score in the final 11:46. Only three players scored for Washington State. Mark Hendrickson scored 19 points and Bennie Seltzer added 12.

The Cougars led, 43-32, early in the second half, but a 17-3 run by Oregon (9-16, 2-11) put the Ducks on top and the game was close the rest of the way.

A short bank shot by Seltzer gave the Cougars their final lead at 58-56 with 3:07 to play. Oregon’s Jeff Potter made two free throws and Orlando Williams followed with a baseline jumper with 1:29 remaining to give the Ducks a 60-58 lead.

Seltzer’s layup with 47 seconds to play tied the score again at 60. The Ducks got the ball to Stoudamire, who drove inside the key and made an eight-foot shot.

Washington 61, Oregon State 51--The Huskies made 62% of their shots in winning at Corvallis, Ore., for the first time since 1986.

Prentis Perkins and Mark Pope both scored 16 points for Washington (12-10, 6-7), which scored the game’s first 10 points and put together a 9-0 run during the last four minutes.

The Huskies made nine of 10 foul shots down the stretch.

Oregon State (11-11, 7-6), which never led, did not attempt a free throw.

Oregon State, which trailed by as many as 15 points, closed to 48-47 with 4:56 to play, but Washington went on an 11-2 run.
