The Ventura College basketball team is undefeated in Western State Conference North Division play since the WSC split into two divisions in 1990. The Pirates (32-1), the No. 1-ranked team in the state entering the Southern California regionals, have won three consecutive North Division titles with a combined record of 24-0.

Men’s basketball: Cal State Northridge has gone seven games without shooting as high as 44% from he field, and its accuracy for the season has dipped to 42.8%. In the last six games, Brooklyn McLinn has struggled: He his 14 for 55 (25.5%) from the field and is five for 29 (17.2%) from three-point range. Since re-injuring his back in a game at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, James Morris has had similar problems. He is 29 for 83 in his last nine games. . . .

The Master’s 67-59 victory Tuesday over Fresno Pacific gave the Mustangs a 19-9 record heading into the NAIA District 3 playoffs. This is the fourth season in a row that Master’s has at least 19 victories. . . .

Canyons’ Cedric Jones led the Western State Conference in assists with an average of 7.9. . . . Ryan Asplund of Glendale led the WSC in three-point shooting (50 for 115 for 43.5%) and teammate Will Burr was second (81 for 187 for 43.4%). . . . Glendale’s Kenny Collins led the WSC in free-throw shooting (90.5%, 95 for 105). . . .

Baseball: Northridge right fielder Greg Shepard has a five-game hitting streak, boosting his batting average to a team-leading .400 with a team-high 11 runs batted in and three home runs. Third baseman Andy Small is next with a .363 average and designated hitter Keyaan Cook, a transfer from Louisiana State, is hitting .354. . . . The Matador pitching staff has a 2.25 earned-run average and teams are batting .228 against the staff. Marco Contreras has a 0.00 ERA and John Bushart leads the staff in strikeouts with 15.

Women’s basketball: Northridge freshman Kris Waldorf has made 43.1% (25 of 58) of her three-point attempts. Only Maureen Batiste (46.0%) and Haily Griffith (43.8%) are shooting better from the field overall. . . . The Matadors’ turnover-to-assist ratio is greater than 2 to 1 (568 to 271). . . .

Northridge freshman guard Michelle Esparza took over the team scoring lead from senior Jody Bittner. Esparza has 236 points in 23 games, a 10.3 average; Bittner is at 9.6. . . .

Yolanda Davidian of Pierce led the WSC in rebounding (14.1) and was second in scoring (22.6). . . . Nicole Ellis of Ventura led the WSC in field-goal percentage (55.3%), and teammate Cori Herman led in free-throw shooting (79.2%). . . . Canyons’ Terra Bruessel led the WSC in assists with an average of 8.8.

Softball: Jen Fleming, a Northridge junior center fielder, has hit safely in six of eight games. Fleming, who is batting .407 (11 for 27), has had three multiple hit games. . . . The new softball (with a polycarbonate resin core) has CSUN on a record-breaking clip. The Matadors have four homers in eight games. Last year, they hit 20.
