ROUNDUP : Krill Leads Moorpark in Conference Track Meet

Bryan Krill won two individual events and ran a leg on the victorious 400-meter relay team to lead host Moorpark College to a win over Santa Monica and Santa Barbara City in a Western State Conference men’s track meet Friday.

The Raiders totaled 110 points, followed by Santa Monica (45) and Santa Barbara (25).

Krill, a sophomore from Thousand Oaks High, won the 200 meters in 21.3 seconds and the 400 in a personal best of 47.1.

Sophomore Ken Teasley won the javelin with a season best of 192 feet 2 inches for Moorpark (4-0, 4-0 in conference meets).

In another men’s track meet:

Valley 61, Ventura 61, Cuesta 49--Kyle Beck won three individual events and ran legs on two victorious relay teams for host Valley in the WSC meet.

Beck, a sophomore from Chatsworth High, timed 15.5 seconds in the 110-meter high hurdles, 54.9 in the 400 intermediates and spanned 23 feet 4 inches in the long jump.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Cal Lutheran 7, Pomona-Pitzer 2--Jeff Berman allowed six hits in eight innings for host Cal Lutheran (9-3, 7-0) in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game. Chris Fick had three doubles for Cal Lutheran.

Canyons 9, Santa Monica 3--Ted Kiester had three hits, including two doubles, to lead Canyons (8-2, 6-0) in a Western State Conference game at Santa Monica.

Valley 10, Oxnard 6--Jason Stanley and Carlos Olmos each had three hits for Valley (5-7-1, 4-2-1) in a WSC game.

WOMEN’S SOFTBALL

Sacramento City 2, Antelope Valley 0 (8 innings)--Freshman Erin Field fired no-hitter to outduel Antelope Valley freshman Heather Meyer in the first round of the Bakersfield tournament.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Pierce d. Santa Barbara City, 15-10, 15-8, 15-0--Rob Beard had a team-high 22 kills to lead Pierce (7-0, 5-0) in a WSC match at home. Doug Tuttle added 11 kills.

GIRLS’ SOFTBALL

Fillmore 9, Nordhoff 0--Senior Jamie Arundell pitched a no-hitter and struck out five in a nonleague opener.

Royal 5, Quartz Hill 4--Molly Floreen’s two-run double drove home the tying and go-ahead runs to cap a five-run Royal rally in the sixth inning of a nonleague opener.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

CS Northridge 8, San Francisco 0--Northridge (6-0) lost only one set. Gabriela Knizek improved her individual record to 10-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Kate Beard.
