Northridge Adds Weber State to 1993 Football Schedule

Share

Cal State Northridge has added Weber State to its 1993 football schedule, replacing Santa Clara, which dropped its program last month.

The Northridge program will receive a $20,000 gate guarantee from Weber State, an Ogden, Utah-based member of the I-AA Big Sky Conference. That increases CSUN’s guarantee total to $140,000, the largest in the program’s history.

The matchup enables CSUN to retain a 10-game schedule for its first season at the Division I-AA level. Northridge will play at Weber State on Sept. 11, a date originally filled by Nevada Las Vegas. At the request of UNLV administrators, the Northridge-UNLV game was moved to Oct. 9.

Senior shortstop David Lamb of Newbury Park has been named a first-team preseason All-American by Baseball America magazine. Lamb batted only .297 last spring, but was named the American Legion national player of the year after a torrid summer. He has signed a letter of intent with Pepperdine.

Kevin Nykoluk, a senior outfielder from Simi Valley, was a second-team selection at designated hitter. Nykoluk was named Cal-Hi Sports’ sophomore and junior player of the year after the past two seasons. . . .
