Last season, Quigley made her mark in swimming as part of two record-setting relay teams. She was a member of OCC’s 200 freestyle team that set a national community college record of 1:39.40 at the State meet won by the Pirates. She also was on the 400 team that set the state mark of 3:35.59, also at the State championship.
But last weekend, Quigley stepped out on her own to set two meet records in the Mt. San Antonio Invitational. She won the 100 freestyle in 54.43 and the 200 freestyle in 1:57.79.
She also swam the fastest time in the state so far this season in the 500 freestyle (5:17.95). She also was part of the 200 medley relay team that won in 1:52.59, the third fastest time in the event in the history of the state.
Another top performer:
Sonya Fellows, who hit .455 (five for 11) including two doubles and drove in four runs for Cypress went 4-2 for the week.
