Shots Fired in Observatory Parking Lot

A man fired into a crowded parking lot at the Griffith Observatory on Sunday afternoon, damaging half a dozen cars with a spray of 9-millimeter bullets but hitting no one, police said.
The gunman, who fired the shots from a burgundy van he was riding in, escaped after an apparent dispute over a parking space, Los Angeles Police Officer Gene Smith said.
Smith said most people in the parking lot were unaware of the shooting.
