A warm day produced slower speeds for most drivers as Alain Prost of France wrapped up the pole for today’s Canadian Grand Prix at Montreal.

Cope’s lap in a Ford was good for the 24th starting position in the $814,600 Winston Cup event at Pocono International Raceway.

Indurain, the defending champion, will go into today’s 109-mile finale with a 58-second lead over Piotre Ugromov of Latvia.

Italy’s Massimo Ghirotto won the 20th stage, covering the 107 miles in 4 hours 18 minutes 19 seconds.

Indurain struggled throughout the race to keep up with the pack. In the final leg, he slowly dropped back. He barely made it across the finish line and was quickly assisted off his bicycle.
