Two deflected grounders with two out in the ninth inning--the second a decisive run-scoring single by pinch-hitter Damon Berryhill--gave the Atlanta Braves a 6-5 victory over the Houston Astros Saturday night at Atlanta.

It was Berryhill’s third hit this season to win a game in the final inning. He did it April 30 with a home run in the 11th inning of a 3-2 victory over St. Louis, and again on May 31 in a 2-1 victory over San Diego.

“It’s just a case of getting the opportunity,” said Berryhill, who shares the catching job with Greg Olson. “I’d prefer playing and getting three or four at-bats before that situation comes up, but I don’t find the pressure any different.”

Montreal 4, Florida 2--Charlie Hough had one bad inning, losing control of his knuckleball in the sixth as the Expos rallied at Miami.

After giving up a first-inning home run to Sean Berry, Hough (3-8) carried a 2-1 lead into the sixth before the Expos rallied.

Marquis Grissom led off with a double. After a one-out walk to Greg Colbrunn, Grissom stole third and scored on Moises Alou’s single. Hough walked Wil Cordero to load the bases and then forced in the go-ahead run by walking pinch-hitter Darrin Fletcher.

Pittsburgh 4, Philadelphia 2--Steve Cooke became the first pitcher to throw a complete game this season against the Phillies and also singled in a run at Pittsburgh.

The left-handed Cooke earned his fourth victory in his last five decisions.

Cooke struck out 10 to outpitch Curt Schilling (8-3), who lost his second in a row after winning six. Schilling gave up three runs on seven hits in seven innings.

Colorado 5, San Francisco 1--Staked to a 5-0 lead after four innings and without Barry Bonds or Matt Williams in the Giants’ lineup, the Rockies’ Armando Reynoso (5-3) breezed at San Francisco.
