Two men were arrested Monday morning in Irvine after they allegedly burglarized an apartment complex.
Police were dispatched to the leasing office of the Turtle Rock Canyon Apartments in the 100 block of Stonecliff Aisle after a resident heard glass breaking about 3:30 a.m. When police arrived, two men ran from the office, ignoring the officers’ commands to stop.
The men fled in a Pontiac that was reported stolen in Florida on July 1. One of the suspects, Luke LaValley, 29, of Daytona, Fla., allegedly stole the car from a Florida man he had recently met, Irvine Police Detective Philip Cadenhead said.
The suspects pulled the car into a parking lot on Cobblestone Way, jumped out and ran north into a marshy area, police said.
Police arrested LaValley and Alexander Trevino, 20, of San Antonio, Tex., about 20 minutes later when they walked out of the marsh near University Drive and Golden Glow Street.
Police said they found about $200 cash in the stolen car, some of which might have come from the apartment office.
LaValley and Trevino were being held at Orange County Jail in Santa Ana on suspicion of burglary, auto theft and evading police.
