Wright 1 Shot Behind After Shooting a 71

Chad Wright of Ventura shot a one-under-par 71 Wednesday and is one shot behind leader Gilberto Morales of Venezuela, who had a 68, after two rounds in the boys’ 15-17 division of the Junior World Golf Championships at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego.

Darren Angel of Northridge, who was two shots off the lead after shooting a 71 in Tuesday’s first round, shot a 75 on Wednesday to drop seven strokes behind Morales, whose two-round total is 139. Angel was the City Section champion as a sophomore at Granada Hills High last Spring.

In the boys’ 11-12 division, Todd Brown of Encino shot a 58 to remain eight strokes behind leader Michael Hastings of Spokane. In the boys’ 10-under division, Justin Ohye of Calabasas shot at 54 to remain four stokes behind leader Matthew Rosenfeld of Dallas.
