Cal State Northridge assistant women’s basketball coach Robin Patterson has resigned to take a teaching position at Hueneme High. Patterson, who left Simi Valley High to join CSUN, had assisted Matador Coach Kim Chandler since April 16, 1992.

“I’m getting back into high school teaching,” Patterson said, “. . . I decided that’s what I want to do.”

Patterson, 29, will coach track and field and teach biology and science at Hueneme.

“I think the (CSUN) program is heading in the right direction,” said Patterson, who was girls’ basketball coach at Lakeland (Fla.) High and Galion (Ohio) High before moving to California in 1991.
