Police arrested a Simi Valley man Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly shot and wounded another man at a carwash in an argument over money.

Felipe Rodriguez Romero, 23, turned himself over to police outside his house Thursday morning, said Sgt. John Wilcox of the Simi Valley Police Department.

Wilcox said Romero got into an argument with Israel Rosales Tapia, 24, of Simi Valley outside a carwash in the 2000 block of Tapo Street at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Romero allegedly got angry and went to his car to get a handgun. He then returned to where Tapia was sitting in a friend’s car and allegedly fired once through the closed window, hitting Tapia in one thigh.

Romero fled and Tapia was driven to the Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, where a hospital spokeswoman said he was treated and released.

Police staked out Romero’s house all night and, after a woman left the house Thursday at about 8:30 a.m., they telephoned him. Romero emerged moments later and was arrested without incident.
