3.8 Aftershock Rattles Big Bear

Share

Another aftershock from last year’s Landers-Big Bear earthquakes struck nine miles southeast of Big Bear Lake early Monday, Caltech seismologists reported. The quake measured magnitude 3.8.

There were no reports of damage or injury from the 1:25 a.m. temblor, although it was noticeable to Labor Day visitors in the area.

More than 30,000 aftershocks, most smaller than Monday’s jolt, have been recorded since the magnitude 7.6 and 6.7 earthquakes of June 28, 1992.
