COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Hicks Improves on Depth Chart
Freshman Skip Hicks, who scored a 40-yard touchdown in his second carry as a collegian, is the No. 2 tailback and is getting time playing No. 1 with Daron Washington sidelined because of a sprained ankle.
In UCLA’s final scoring drive Saturday night, Hicks and Jeff Ruckman, also a freshman, were the backs.

Kicker Jason Lesley had a long talk with Coach Terry Donahue about his situation at the school. Lesley, a freshman, was beaten out by Bjorn Merten in training camp. Merten kicked two field goals Saturday night.

Wide receiver Bryan Adams says he is about ready to return to the lineup after being sidelined because of a pulled left hamstring. Adams will test the leg today and says he should be ready for the Nebraska game.
