Preview ’93 : Mo’ New Talk

This fall, daytime introduces several new talk shows, including “The Bertice Berry Show” and “The Mo Show,” featuring comic actress Mo Gaffney.

For the most part, though, it’s pretty much the same fare as last year, with a mix of entertainment and informational series.

Here’s what’s new to daytime along with their time slots and premiere dates.

LOCAL: KNBC

“Sally Jessy Raphael”: The popular talk show moves from KCAL to KNBC. Weekdays at 3 p.m. Already premiered. KNBC also airs “Best of Sally Jessy.” Weekdays at 10 a.m.

“Bob Vila’s Home Again”: The well-known home renovator joins the KNBC lineup for a fourth season. Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 5 a.m. Saturday.

“Martha Stewart Living”: Series combines inspirational and how-to information on a variety of subjects. Sundays at 5:30 a.m. Sept. 19. (Also Sundays at 10 a.m on San Diego’s KNSD).

KCAL

“Les Brown”: The motivational speaker is the host of a new daytime show, weekdays at 2 p.m. Already premiered. (Also weekdays at 11 a.m. on San Diego’s KNSD.)

“Live in L.A.”: Two former “A.M. Los Angeles” anchors, Steve Edwards and Cyndy Garvey, are hosts of a new local morning show. Weekdays at 10 a.m. Already premiered .

KTTV

“The Bertice Berry Show”: The award-winning lecturer, stand-up comic and Ph.D. hosts an issue-oriented talk show. Weekdays at 10 a.m. Monday. (Weekdays at 9 a.m. on San Diego’s KNSD.)

“The Mo Show”: Comic actress Mo Gaffney, who headlines the popular Comedy Central series “Women Aloud,” is the host of a talk show that looks at today’s issues and events with a “sense of humor and humanity.” Weekdays at 11 a.m. Sept. 27.

KCOP

“Jenny Jones”: The chat show moves from KNBC to KCOP for its third season. Weekdays at 2 p.m. Monday.

CABLE: THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL

“World Class Cuisine”: The cooking series travels into the kitchens of Europe’s greatest chefs; gourmet food and wine tour coordinator Annemarie Victory is the host. Weekdays at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sept. 27.

“Home Matters”: Former Miss America Susan Powell is the host of a series that features a mix of hints and ideas on everything from car repair and self-defense to fashion. Weekdays at 10 a.m., 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. Sept. 27.

“Lynette Jennings at Home”: The design and furnishing editor of “Canadian Living Magazine” offers easy and affordable tips on home improvement. Weekdays at 1 and 5 p.m. Sept. 27.

THE LEARNING CHANNEL

“Homebodies”: This series, geared to non-handy people, features an array of pain-free home improvement ideas. Weekdays at 1 and 4 p.m.; Saturdays at 1 and 4 p.m. Sept. 27.

“Laurie Cooks Light & Easy”: Author and chef Laurie Burrows Grad demonstrates how to create meals using fresh ingredients aimed at keeping viewers slim. Weekdays at 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.; Saturdays at 8:30 a.m., 6:30 and 10:30 p.m. Sept. 27

“Nathalie Dupree’s Matter of Taste”: Cooking series looks at the diverse ethnic influences behind modern American cooking. Weekdays at 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 27.

“Better Your Home”: This home-improvement series, produced by “Better Homes and Gardens,” shows inventive and economical approaches to do-it-yourself and contracted home building. Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Oct. 2.
