Cypress running back Greg Cleave ran for 271 yards in 12 carries and scored four touchdowns to help the Centurions to a 34-34 tie against Katella Thursday night in an Empire League game at Glover Stadium.

Cleave scored the first two times he touched the ball, on runs of 63 and 77 yards, and had 140 yards by halftime.

He added a 75-yard run in the third quarter and scored the game-tying touchdown on a 43-yard run with one minute left in the game.

The Centurions (1-7-1, 1-2-1) failed to convert two scoring opportunities in the final minute of the game.

The extra-point kick on their final touchdown was blocked, and Joey Meza pushed a 47-yard field-goal attempt wide right as time expired. The blocked kick was the second of the game for the Knights.

Katella (3-3-3, 0-2-2) held the rest of the Centurions offense in check in the first half, allowing 162 yards, including Cleave’s 140.
