PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE : Trabuco Hills Uses Estancia Miscues to Win

Trabuco Hills forced seven turnovers--four fumbles and three interceptions--and the Mustangs rolled to a 42-7 victory over visiting Estancia in a Pacific Coast League game Friday night.

After Chris Congo recovered David Barnhill’s botched attempt at a fair catch on a punt at the Estancia 16, Trabuco Hills scored when J.C. Pintsak threw three yards to Brad Cervantes to cap the five play drive. Gerry Beckham added the extra point to make it 7-0.

The Mustangs made it 14-0 early in the second quarter when Pintsak threw 16 yards to Cervantes for the score.

After Geoff Beckham returned an interception 30 yards to the Estancia 14, the Mustangs needed just three plays for Chad Collins to find Matt Rechner for the five-yard touchdown play. Gerry Beckham’s kick made it 21-0.

Trabuco Hills took the second-half kickoff and marched 85 yards in seven plays. The drive was capped by Cervantes’ third score of the game, a 52-yard pass from Collins. Todd Svarc’s kick made it 28-0.

Cervantes also pitched in on defense, recovering a fumble at the Estancia 33. Two plays later, Loquentin Fodd ran 31 yards for the score.

Trabuco Hills scored for the final time when Kenny Adams ran one yard to cap a 21-play, 75-yard drive that lasted more than nine minutes.

Estancia avoided a shutout when Karlo Amaya ran 44 yards for a touchdown with 2:56 to play.
