Santa Barbara 28, Rio Mesa 21--Jerrod Brown scored from nine yards with 2:16 to play to lift the host Dons (7-2, 5-1).

Rio Mesa (5-4, 2-4) had taken a 21-20 lead early in the quarter on fullback Junior Liufau’s nine-yard touchdown run. But Liufau, who had 166 yards and two touchdowns in 18 carries, fumbled on the Santa Barbara two-yard line, and the Dons drove 98 yards in eight plays for the deciding touchdown.

Liufau’s 60-yard touchdown run late in the first half tied the score, 14-14. John Espinoza added 100 yards in 20 carries for Rio Mesa, including a 22-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Torlando Bolden led the Dons with 21 carries for 247 yards and three touchdowns.
