A 48-yard field goal by Hugo Ojeda and reserve quarterback Fred Schweer’s touchdown pass off a fake field-goal attempt gave New Mexico a 10-7 victory over No. 23 Wyoming in a Western Athletic Conference game Saturday.

All the points were scored in the first half. Steady rain and accompanying 22-m.p.h. winds hindered both offenses in the second half and forced a combined 14 punts.

Wyoming, 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the WAC, had its seven-game winning streak ended and fell into a tie for the conference lead with Brigham Young.

New Mexico (5-5, 3-4), with one game left against Texas El Paso, kept alive its bid for its first winning season since 1982. The win was New Mexico’s first over Wyoming since 1985.
