Mira Costa Wins in Water Polo, 8-7

The Mira Costa water polo team defeated Palm Desert, 8-7, in a Southern Section Division III second-round match on Saturday at Palm Desert.
The Mustangs’ Dan Stephenson scored on a penalty throw with 15 seconds remaining for the game-winning goal. Stephenson finished with four goals.
Mira Costa (22-6) will play Santa Barbara on Wednesday at a site to be determined.
