Troy Searcy
SCHOOL: Quartz Hill
SPORT: Football
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Searcy, a track sprinter who has run 100 meters in 10.78 seconds, has been a blur every time he gets the ball. He doesn’t hit high gear right away, though. “I’m kind of a slow starter,” Searcy said. “But when I get going. . . .” Searcy came flying out of the blocks this season, catching four scoring passes in the second game. He already has set school single-season marks for reception yardage and touchdowns. Searcy (5-foot-11, 155 pounds) has caught 37 passes for 984 yards (26.6 average), and has scored 16 touchdowns.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Searcy saved his best for the last game of the regular season, which helped the Rebels win the Golden League title outright and finish with a 10-0 mark. A slow starter? Searcy caught five passes for 202 yards and scored on receptions of 67, 40, 55 and 20 yards--all in the first half of a 66-13 victory over Littlerock. The high-flying Rebels, 10-0 for the first time in the school’s 30-year history, are seeded No. 3 in the Division I playoffs.
