A Time for Thanks

Share

After watching the massive devastation from the fires in Southern California, I must take time to thank the countless amount of fire, police, and safety officials for their tremendous efforts. These men and women that have been putting their lives on the line every time they face these massive flames cannot be thanked enough.

I watched with many the bravery and courageous actions of our local safety officials, saving the homes and lives of hundreds of people. I also felt the same remorse and helplessness as I watched people’s years of hard work and dreams destroyed in an instant.

In the 70 years I have lived in Ventura County, I cannot remember a time where I have seen so much destruction from fires in the area. I, along with hundreds of others, hope that the sick arsonist will be caught and given the maximum sentence. The enormous amount of death and destruction by this person cannot, and should not, be taken lightly.

We as a community must pull together and take a moment of time to help the people who have lost their homes, as well as thank the men and women who tried to save them. As this month of remembrance and thanksgiving is upon us, let’s each make a commitment to helping one another. Now more than ever, this community and its residents need our support.
