OUTLOOK

Century prides itself on being a hard-working team that beats you with defense. One of the busiest players is Thomas Harmon, who averaged 14.3 points and 5.5 rebounds last season and is the PCL’s only returning first-team all-league player. Arrington, who started the final eight games of last season, and Yam, a reserve who is a defensive specialist, make up the Centurions’ experienced nucleus. Coombs is adding youth to the mix with five sophomores on the roster, including Ike Harmon, Thomas’ brother, who was the leading scorer on the junior varsity team as a freshman. “Hopefully, it will be a good blend,” Coombs said. One of the team’s strengths will be its depth: Coombs plans on giving up to 10 players significant playing time. That should help the team stay fresh while playing the pressure defense that Coombs uses to cover up for the Centurions’ lack of size. Aristondo will be out until at least mid-December after undergoing knee surgery.
