George Watson takes over at Huntington Beach Claremont, where the Cougars are hungry for a successful season after suffering through another long one last year. Kimble and Gavin Watson are two reasons why the new coach can smile when he talks about his teams' possibilities of producing more victories than losses. Kimble averaged 19 points last season and Watson scored an average of 25 points while pulling in an average of 14 rebounds. Together the pair accounted for 80% of the Cougars' offense last season. George Watson thinks he has five or six players who can contribute to the scoring column this season and he expects to go at least 10 deep on the bench. "I think we need to try and score about 70 or 80 points a game to be successful," Watson said. Avoiding turnovers will be a key to the Cougars' offense, and just getting the players to show up for practice can be difficult, Watson said. "Sports are secondary here at Huntington Beach Claremont." A key game for the Cougars will be Jan. 7, when they travel to Heritage Christian to play the defending Express League champions.
